I wanted to just ask that anyone new here take a moment to not only fill in a profile bio, but to say hi here and tell everyone else why you are part of the L*B*T. The more I explore this site, the more I realize that what is all here is not a random mistake. I deeply believe that each person who joins here has a very deep spiritual purpose on this planet, and has found it, and then been somehow drawn to this community for some reason. Every other member i speak with here seems to have something that I have never experienced in online communications before. Its really strange to explain, almost like i've met them before somehow??

So this is why im asking that all new members write something here. We have not been gathered here by coincidence, of this im positive!

    Hi,

I just joined a few minutes ago (10/15/2015). I bought Dr. Boettcher's book on Amazon and have been doing the practices. Its week 2 now. Struggling to keep attention sometimes on the breath without day dreaming thoughts. Especially the part where we have to go into the upper atmosphere etc. Feelings of restlessness are a little less now which is good. But from time to time my mind yearns for the alarm to sound to indicate the session is over. Is that normal? Was wondering if someone had any tips to absorb attention in the breath seamlessly? Moving attention into the 4 focal points seems to cause strain. Just listening to the sound of the breath doesn't. I wonder if latter is advisable. Since I am a musician, I seem very geared to sound.

I was originally trying to attain astral travel via the sound current and the eureka society's methods (http://www.theeurekasociety.org/) and I felt I hit a wall. Something seemed to be missing and I figured it had to do with energy work. When I came across 'Life is But a Dream' I was amazed by the detail and depth and felt this might be the missing key.

Am originally from Ceylon. Now live in Massachusetts teaching violin, viola and piano at a few music schools. I have a main meditation teacher also George Boyd (http://www.mudrashram.com/mudraguides.html), whose methods I've been practicing since 2008. However I am stuck in some of them especially the raja yoga projection and nada yoga methods. So I thought if I could do astral travel it might give me a boost with all my meditations + I'm thirsting for experience of the inner planes.

Before George Boyd I'd been doing buddhist type meditations since 1988 after a strange 'awakening,' and subsequently mantra type meditations. I was also initiated into Surat Shabda yoga by Michael Turner few years back but did not pursue that path after finding George.

Hope someone whose crossed the threshold from novice to mastery in astral travel can help. Thanks for your time and look forward to getting to know folks of LBT. Kavan

    Greetings to you Kavan,

you may email me directly by all means. Part of our membership includes personal guidance from a light body traveler founder.

    Regarding your questions,
    1. It is certainly normal to have distracting thoughts. Remember, quieting the mind while the body is awake goes against its very nature. We constantly strive to think and analyze our environments and inner thoughts while awake. Mastering the silence is a skill that takes patience and focus. I will say, that in maintaining regularity in your twice daily practices, you will accomplish this. When you touch upon your moments of trance, work to calmly extend that state. I promise this becomes easier with repetition, just like learning an instrument. Recall that your brain is literally writing a new type of program, and the neurons need to fire together as much as possible to learn a new task.

    2. If the Pranayama breathing creates tension, back it off slightly. It is designed to maintain focus and not cross over into sleep states, so simply have it you repertoire for the coming weeks when you feel your drifting into unconsciousness. This will immediately bring the mind back to a lucid state even while the body remains asleep in light trance. The goal is to bring the three sensory apparatus into the focus of the breath. Do this as calmly as you possible can. :) You know your body better than anyone.

    3. You can certainly use sound current to focus your attention. If this seems effortless to you, than it is a method for you.

I look forward to working with you as needed. Again, your presence here is our privilege, and we are all right there with you as you go through these first few weeks of learning. We have all been there, and can say that freedom is just around the bend.

A beautiful day to you my friend,

    Be the Miracle!

    Dr. Joseph Kenneth

I just joined a few moments ago. I've been interested in (and attempted) astral travel since I was a child but have had no success (in my 50s now). I did finally have spontaneous vibrations earlier this year but was unable to recreate them.

I've done so much reading through the years and viewing online videos and other materials but feel I need formal instruction to hopefully achieve an OBE one day.

    Thanks!

      Greetings Dennis,
Your spontaneous vibrations are an excellent sign that your astral body is ready to release. This was in fact how my first experiences unfolded. Have you had any since you last indicated? Also, do you currently have a steady meditation practice? I find just by dedicating to a regular meditation practice, the energy body quickly takes the message from the conscious mind that spiritual growth is a need. Keep us posted and someone will be sure to kept out from here.
A beautiful day to you you dear brother,

    Hi Everyone,
Actually, I just posted last night, a rather longish post that tells a lot about what experiences I've had, but I neglected to state, that my astral projections and lucid dreams started dwindling out after I began to have visitations from, what appeared to be denizens of the lower astral. Since my Temple had closed for some very negative reasons I did not know at the time, I really had no one to help me to raise my vibrations enough to get out of their realm. I had some really cool demon battles at first, but then they really started getting nasty, and gradually I stopped practicing my meditations and rituals. Although I looked around for another magical group, but couldn't find anything to my liking, so I just continued doing what I've always done, just looking around from place to place for spiritual answers. I'm getting pretty old now, though mentally I don't feel it all all, someone tell my body that, and I'd really like to get back into exploring the astral plane, the REAL astral and spiritual planes, so maybe I can find some answers here. I really love this site, although it took me a couple of months to start really practicing anything.

Hi everyone! Hope it's not too late to still reply to this post.

I've really been enjoying my spiritual path. Growing up, I read a lot of Madeleine L'Engle books and other sci-fi and fantasy type books. I always wished that the world or universe was more like that. So, the more I learn about astral travel and different ways of viewing the universe, the happier I am.

My spiritual path really began its focus in 2009. So, I'm kind of new to spiritual ideas compared to some people. After meditating pretty casually I thought, I ended up having lucid dreams for the first time. I've really been enjoying my lucid dreaming experiences.

I think I need to release some negative thinking before I really dive into astral travel whole heartedly. I have difficulty starting the 7 week program. I encounter resistance just by setting up the two chairs and sitting down to meditate for week one. Not totally sure why this is.

As part of my worldview, I feel like everyone's perspective is entirely unique. So, I use spiritual books to get a peek into how others see the universe.

Well, thanks for reading! : )

I also wanted to ask Dennis how his astral projection practice was going. I had a dream this morning with the name Dennis being shouted at me over and over again, and found it almost unreal that there was a dennis in this chat forum trying to astral project. Probably no connection, but I had to ask if you remember screaming your name or a dream like that??

Im a 23 year old spiritual seeker/explorer on a personal journey. I found this website and and glad i did! I am becoming an Unlimited Member and can't wait to begin study. I astral travel a little but am certain i could use some real help when it comes to controlling and using it for actual growth. Truth be told, I found the website through the book on amazon Life, is But a Dream. I didn't buy the book because the website looked much cooler as far as being part of an actual spiritual family as well as getting all the other meditations and Occult information that is missing on every other "New Age" website. Im proud to be here and happy I found you guys! This is so cool:D :D :D

    Hello, yes, I'm here.

My details are presented on my profile but in case you don't make the effort I'm seeking liberation and consciousness expansion, not just for me, but for benighted humanity as well. I recently returned from a two year excursion in China, Cambodia and Malaysia, utterly marvelled by how grand the collective human somnolence really is! To help my father sell is house, I dreadfully returned to the United States of Jesus, struggling not to be re-assimilated into the world of retail robots, phone/TV zombies and debt/wage slaves. I'm here at this website to gain the tools I desperately seek in order to neutralize my own unconscious predicament. Do you have lucidity? I want it!

      Greetings and good day Maat,
I wanted to follow up properly today with a few direct questions, as you spoke quite adimately regarding the liberation of social slavery and the general limitations of a modern paradigm. If I may, what spawned your spiritual drive, aside from your expedition to the east? Rather, do you feel authentically driven at the core of your being to move beyond your self and the belief structures that once made you you?
All of this and more really goes into consideration when working with a spiritual seeker such as yourself. There is much to say as we continue this journey now, but I will remain brief regarding that.
Please refer to the personal email we sent for the remaining details here. It is an honor for all of us that you have chosen to join us in your most meaningful awakening process.

Wow! Your words speak crystle clear to me. Your excursion must have been a real eye opener. All i can say is you're in the right place here. Do you astral travel by chance? One thing the L*B*T does is teaches us to leave our body and know freedom from the physical for a real awakening to be set in motion. Nice to see you here. ;) ;)

Thank you Emily, but I now believe churchianity set me back. I was making some breakthroughs in OBE before the fear religion and some have occurred afterwards but they are not lucid and not controllable. I feel like a drunk or madman in my dreams as I realize how far a setback it is. That is what non lucid dreaming is to me, if it happens. I don't know how to gain access or control. It all seems random and I don't know how to awake from this overall slumber. That is why I sought LBT so as to understand which direction to take. :(

I get all wobbly when out sometimes too. Have you used the third eye trigger method taught here to gain stability and lucidity? sounds silly, but it usually shoots you to a higher plane and your lighter and cleaner feeling.

Hi there bruno. While there are certainly tons of meaningful practices that others can recommend, I wanted to share my own in hopes that they assist you in some way.
If I m doing a mid day meditation, I like to warm up my imagination and astral body at the same time. This means I will generally lie in savasana on the floor or on a bed, and begin to allow the room to spin. If this is difficult at first, simply start by seeing the room in reverse. So see from the perspective of where you physical feet are for example. Shifting your viewpoint is key to train the imagination, and also allow your astral body to gently loosen its attachment to your physical position.

So, get to a point where you can easily allow the room to spin, and see every detail on every wall as it moves around. You will know this has been accomplished when you actually feel the movements in your physical stomach and even notice a dizzy sensation after a while. This means your imaginative faculty is dominate over your waking conscious state of observation.

If Im in a morning meditation, and actually plan to separate and travel, I use most of the techniques given in the AP curriculum here. As you know as an unlimited member of our community, all of the meditation steps are available in the video section under the Self Illumination menu. Week by week of course. :)

But to reveal a decent answer here too, I absolutely love to use the tattva trance meditation techniques. The merging my presence with each of the five tattva symbols prior to release. I think a lot of astral travelers underestimate the value of being elementally balanced and charged prior to traveling out of body. This is like taking a road trip with either a full tank of gas in a brand new car, or a quarter tank of gas in a lemon. lol

The power of the tattvas and their elemental influence gives the astral vehicle the needed lucidity and power it needs to actually stay in the astral for a while and do the work it desires to accomplish. I realize your just beginning the course. but stick with it, and this will all make great advice soon enough.

Greetings to Everyone, especially Maat and Bruno.
I'm amazed at how our Discussions area has suddenly kicked off and gotten really interesting. Maat, I read your introduction about yourself, and I must say how fortunate you are to have been able to take a journey through the Far East. That has been a dream of mine for all my life ever since I got interested in Yoga and Eastern philosophies back in the 1960's. (That's gives you an idea of just how long I've been hanging around this Earth.) I was fortunate to read a book that had some of Patanjali's teachings in Eastern religion, and that got me interested in Reincarnation and Karma, and that theory made a lot of sense to me at that age. Actually the early Gnostic Christianity included that in their teachings. The most important concept was that of us being a Spark of God, made in God's image, which means we are like God, Our Father, the All, or whatever you would like to call it. Yes, modern Christianity has really gotten the Western World on a path that I believe is really quite distant from what Jesus really taught. I refer you to the Nag Hammadi and the Dead Sea Scrolls, which were discovered in the mid-1940's, and are filled with teachings of a quite different Jesus from which we all know here in the U.S.

The modern movement in Born-again Christianity has really done the world a disfavor by saying that all you need to do to get into heaven is believe in Jesus Christ. What you should believe in is what he really said as written in the Gospel of Thomas, where he tells us that we are as Gods, in fact, even in the King James version of he Bible he tells his disciples that they can do everything that he has done, and more. Eastern religions, at their core, also have that key idea, that we have this Spark of Divinity and basically that we are here to awaken ourselves to that fact. There are many techniques and practices to accomplish that, such as meditation, which is probably the key technique for getting control of errant thoughts going through our mind all day. Another key concept is realizing that our world or Universe is a multi-dimensional world. When we go to sleep at night, we enter one of those worlds, a portion of the astral plane, that once you become lucid in your dreams, you will begin to recognize, as you return to what is mainly a reflection of the Earthly plane, which the Kabbalists call Malkuth. We kind of think of these planes as stacked on top of one another, but really they interpenetrate each other, and the only difference in one plane from another is its frequency of vibration. Generally, the higher you go in frequency, the closer you are to the more spiritual planes. In the Ksabala, we are taught that there are 10 main planes, but within those basic ten planes there are 40 subplanes, and each of those subplanes has another 40 subplanes. This is where we get the concept that Hermes Trismegistrus meant, when he said, "As Above, so Below, and as Within, so Without," meaning within and without our bodies, or minds. Hermes basically told us that our Universe is mental, and a very good book to read talking about this concept is The Kybalian[. :)

Maat, Bruno, one thing you will want to ask you when you begin picking and choosing what techniques you want to follow, is just what is your purpose for Astral Traveling. If you want to begin a journey of just discovering who you are, and just want to meet your guides, might be different from someone who wants to be fully illuminated, and what path you follow will depend on whether you want to follow the Christian path, Eastern path, or just your own inner seeking, and no one else can tell you what path to follow. This site, the LBT, offers much information in whatever path you are attracted to, but if you really want to approach it from a religious path, then you may want to connect with a specific religious group. I can tell you from my own journey, though, that they all lead to the same place. We are all on a spiritual path to return to that from which we became, the All, the Mind, the Source, and there are many planes of existence between us and the the dwelling of the ultimate Creator, and we are on an everlasting journey of evolution, growth before we accomplish that.

You may believe in something else, and that is okay too, there is really no Correct or Incorrect to do it. Your own Soul will determine which way you will go, and as Edgar Cayce, the prophet and seer of the 20th Century said, no one will be left behind, unless as has happened in this Universe, at the end of a Great Dark Age, a person, absolutely refuses to return to the Light, and has accomplished such heinous deeds, then the Angels of God will be given the order to dissolve that Soul Being and all its incarnations into its Primordial Atoms and will be sent back to the Great Central Sun to be reassemilated into the Soul pool, if you will. But that is very, very rare. However, the Creator is Love, and Loves all HIs/Her creations and will do everything in its power to see that no one is left behind, and we are given many many chances to put our deeds right. Anyway, that is what I have found to be True, but there is enough room in this great Universe, for many realities and many truths. I welcome yours and anyone elses opinions and discussions on these matters.

Maat, I would like to give you and Bruno, another little tidbit from my Doramage experiences, which was when I became a member of a Magic Order. It seemed to me that after years and years and decades of trying to get out of my body and having lucid dreams that I suddenly opened up at about age 50. But in reality, everything I did in my life was building up to that. The Yoga book I found at age 16, my flying experiences in my dreams as a teenager, taking a course on Eastern Religion at college, learning astrology and being introduced to Edgar Cayce at age 30, later studying various occult teachings such as Theosophy, Astara, Eckankar, finding Robert Monroe's books on OBE's, then going to his Institute for four or five weeks instruction into Astral Traveleing,. Everything I did was building up to knowing that I am a Spiritual Being on an Infinite journey of discovery and evolution. Do not be discouraged if your dreams seem disjointed and confusing. You have made the most important step in Awakening to the fact that there is more to it than what you were told in your religion. There has always been an open door for the masses, and a secret door for those who want to learn more. Once you've made that discovery and opened the door, then you need to set your intention, so your soul will know you are serious about this. Let your intuition guide you, you will find many synchronicities leading you to the answers you need. Then you must make serious attempt to control your mind, so that you can have these experiences, and keep on the right path. There will be times whe you grow discouraged, or you just are at a resting stage where you must let your mind rest, do not try to force it. It will come when you are ready. You will be tested also, to see just how pure your intent is. Expect it.

We are at a very important stage in the development of the human being on earth. We are in the Kali Yuga, the Dark Age, but it is almost at an end. Some have even entered the New Golden Age already, and everything you do here will help you and the human being in the next stage of their development. Welcome!
